Coloring tricks and fun facts about Christmas ornaments

Coloring tricks:

Red and gold is a classic combo, but try icy blue, silver, and purple for a frosty look. Pink ornaments on a green tree look pretty great, too.

Smudge colored pencil wax with a cotton swab inside the bauble circles to create a soft glass reflection effect.

Dab metallic silver paint or glitter glue on the caps and hooks to make the paper ornaments look surprisingly shiny.

Punch a hole at the top, loop a piece of red ribbon through, and cut out the finished bulb to hang right on the real tree branches.

Fun facts:

The German town of Lauscha became famous for glass Christmas ornaments during the 1800s. Early glass decorations often copied familiar shapes like fruits and nuts.

Tinsel was originally made from actual hammered silver strands in Germany, but candle smoke tarnished it almost instantly.
