Coloring tricks and fun facts about Christmas

Coloring tricks:

Stick with classic red, green, and yellow for an easy start. Or let your kids pick three favorite colors and see what kind of Christmas they come up with.

Big shapes are easier to fill, so use chunky crayons for trees, Santa’s coat, and gift boxes. Save the colored pencils for tiny stars and little decorations.

Leave the snow white and color the sky pale blue. It’s a quick way to make a winter scene look finished without coloring every inch.

For Christmas words with hollow letters, color each letter a different shade. A little red and green alternating through “MERRY CHRISTMAS” looks festive without much fuss.

Fun facts:

Jingle Bells was originally written for Thanksgiving in 1857 and was even the first song broadcast from outer space in 1965.

The tradition of putting up Christmas trees goes back to 16th-century Germany where people decorated fir trees inside their homes.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer first appeared in a booklet created for the Montgomery Ward department store in 1939.

You’ll find very simple coloring sheets for toddlers and preschoolers, plus slightly more detailed Christmas pictures for kids who are ready for extra ornaments. They’re handy for fine motor practice, color recognition, or a quick classroom activity before winter break.
